Snuff
With Less Than Jake and King Prawn
With Snuff's new album "Numb Nuts" and Less Than Jake's re-release of the Losing Streak/Hello Rockview albums, this was always going to be a great night. King Prawn were on first. These were hard to describe - English ska-punk but with a rap edge, almost at times sounding like a very good version of Rage Against the Machine with a scarey bearded bloke. LTJ played plenty from the 'Hello Rockview' album, including the brilliant "All My Best Friends are Metalheads" although they still churned out older classics like "Jen Doesn't Like Me Anymore" and "Johnny Quest Thinks We're Sellouts". Those who'd saved enough energy were now awaiting Snuff, the everlasting Mod-Punkers from London. From the moment they opened their set with their version of 70's sitcom theme tune "Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads", the place was jumping with hot, sweaty bodies. It was good to see plenty of new Snuff stuff- especially 'Marbles', 'EFL vs. Concrete' and 'Pixies'. This contrasted well with older songs I hadn't seen them perform before like 'Sunny Places' and 'Gone to the Dogs'. Finally, Less Than Jake's Roger went on the stage to sing "I think we're alone now" - the classic Tiffany hit from mid 80's. Brilliant.
Overall a great night.
